Janine Rubio (she/her)
Chef de Cuisine, Kitchen Mouse

Janine Rubio was born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley, attending both San Gabriel Mission High School, and Mark Keppel High School where she was also involved in the East LA Punk Scene. Janine grew up immersed in this ever important punk scene where she was surrounded by creativity. Her immersion in this creative punk scene was an important part of her journey becoming the chef she is today. However, Janine’s passion for the culinary arts started well before that when she was just a little kid. She would hide away in the kitchen and bake cookies for her neighbors and other adults in her life, like her school bus driver. To this day, Janine still hides away in the kitchen not seeking the limelight, but truly enjoying peoples’ reactions and love for the food she creates. Janine attended Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena where she added technique to her passion for cooking. She worked for various restaurants across the LA area from the SGV to Long Beach. Janine even ran a private pastry and cake business out of her home while honing her skills in restaurants. Eventually, Janine made her way to Kitchen Mouse where she was a major part of KM surviving the pandemic, and where she currently helms Kitchen Mouse’s busy catering department. Janine has a talent for making delicious vegan food that pleases the masses. Her approach is simple. Make it taste good!
